Corsair Virtuoso Headset Review

I've been using my Corsair Virtuoso wireless headset for exactly 3 months now, and while I don't claim to be a pro on the subject of headsets I just wanted to give my personal thoughts and opinions on using it as someone who's now a PS5 console gamer.

Pro's

  • It's a fairly comfortable headset to wear on the head and ears, the mic also stays in place well. Overall, I feel it's pretty user-friendly for the most part.
  • The indicator lights are definitely helpful for knowing when my mic is on, off, or when the unit is charging or on.
  • The game sounds pretty well in the headset and I can definitely hear more with a headset on than if I were to just let the sound play off of the TV.
  • I don't believe these are noise canceling but they definitely make it a lot harder to hear outside noises with them on (a lot of times my parents are calling for me in the house and with them on and my door closed, I hardly hear them).

Con's

  • While the mic quality is better than using my PS5 controller mic I don't feel like the sound coming from it completely sounds like myself on my stream (I get that most of us don't like the sound of our voice but that's not the case). I've tried turning up my mic sound as well on the PS5 console because my voice is more on the quiet side and that does help but it's still not an excellent sound quality in my opinion. People can also hear my fish tank running which is maybe 3-4 feet away from me, so it's not helping with outside noises or those outside of my voice speaking into the mic. When I switch the mic on or off during my stream apparently people can hear the beep sound when I engage this, I kind of wish that wasn't happening because I don't want people to feel as if I'm done with speaking to them right after I say something.
  • I don't feel like the charge on these lasts as long as it claims to. Lately, I'm streaming 2-3 hrs at a time and I usually charge my headset between streams. Even if I streamed my average 7-8 hrs a day, I'm not so sure this has 20 hours of battery life because the headset will start to beep when it's low, which has happened several times now (I also turned off the wireless switch which should disengage the headset from being on as the lights do power off on the headset when I do so). I also wonder if it's even fully charged at times or if it stops charging once my PS5 controller has fully charged, which would explain if it isn't fully charged.
  • I like that I can adjust the volume from the headset with its turn-style wheel however if I tilt my head to the right I'm finding that sometimes the dial turns with this by rubbing on my shoulder, and then the sound is blaring in my ears (I game from my raised bed so for me, that's a little of an issue if I start to lay on my side).
  • I kind of wish that I could hear my voice with these on when I'm talking through the mic because I feel like that's affecting my speech during my gameplay as well and I don't feel like I'd like playing with a one-eared headset either.
Overall
  • I'd probably give this around 3 stars out of 5.
  • It's not the cheapest of headsets but you can find it for a decent price around $76 to $230 and I got the model pictured above when it was just over $180 on Amazon.
  • It's fairly stylish, comfortable, and straightforward.
  • The mic quality could be better in terms of the sound produced.
  • I like that it's wireless but I don't feel the battery life lasts what it's supposed to.
